Paul Shaffer’s Day in Rock Features Led Zeppelin Guitarist, Extended Interview Online
On Saturday, Aug. 15, Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page will join Paul Shaffer for an exclusive interview on Paul Shaffer’s Day in Rock. The feature will air on affiliate stations throughout the country, and an extended interview will be available at paulshaffersdayinrock.com. In the interview, Page discussed reissues from Led Zeppelin, what went into recording the original albums and what musical direction the band might have gone in if they hadn’t broken up.
Page discussed the reissued versions of Led Zeppelin’s Presence, In Through The Out Door and Coda, available on Amazon.com and iTunes. The deluxe reissues feature the studio album, along with a companion album featuring alternate versions of songs, unreleased tracks and stripped-down versions. Page was hands-on with the remastering of the studio albums.
“I really wanted to make sure the detail could be heard in all these things unlike with say, MP3 files,” Page said.
In discussing the band’s catalog, Page said that he would consider all of the songs “favorites,” but that “Good Times Bad Times” stood out in context. He explained, “[That] first album, first track, side 1, It’s going to change everything overnight.”
